Barking FC Academy Football Scholarship offer both A level and BTEC education programme:
BARKING FC A LEVEL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Barking FC and Sydney Russell school have come together and joined forces to create a top of the league A level and BTEC education football scholarship programme for 16 to 18 year olds and commencing in September 2018.
Barking FC Chairman Rob O’Brien, Sydney Russell Principal Janis Davies and Head of Sixth form Sophie Dryden are all delighted. “We’ve had a few meetings but quickly established that both parties wanted to develop a ‘Top of the league’ education and sporting scholarship programme”.
The Programme will deliver most of the sought after ‘A’ level subjects and combine these with UEFA coaching sessions and National League matches.
A BTEC Extended diploma in Sporting subjects are also available and will be 3 x A level equivalent.

BARKING FC SCHOLARSHIP EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The Barking FC Football Academy reflects an ethos which combines the provision of sporting excellence with a full-time education programme.
What is the Football Academy?
A 2-year, full-time education and football development programme for 16-18 year olds:
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Coaching and Fitness (QCF)
Who can join the Academy?
Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Academy Programme is a must for any football enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability. Places at the Academy will be offered after each trial until the availability within the current Academy squad is filled.
Where will the Academy be held?
The football and educational element of the academy will be delivered at Barking FC, Mayesbrook Park, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham RM8 2JR.
Players will study a variety of nationally-recognised qualifications within sport, coaching and fitness managed by Academy 1 Sports College.
A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Coaching and Fitness (QCF) course
Where required students will study Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills.
The education will be delivered by Academy 1 Sports College who are one of the UK’s leading independent providers of education through sport.
Barking FC Academy was established in 2011 and has been successful both in terms of developing players to represent Barking FC First Team and supporting each student’s football development, academic and career pathways.The Academy has already created opportunities for young Academy players to play for and represent Barking FC at Youth, Reserve and First Team level.
The Academy will offer each student a unique opportunity to train and study in an environment that will facilitate each student’s academic and sporting performance over a two year programme of football and study.

- Daily training from highly qualified FA coaches

- Regular appraisal to monitor development both on and off the pitch
